About Job Centre Plus

Jobcentre Plus is a quango set up by the Department for Work and Pensions, which is part of the government of the United Kingdom. It is an employment service headquartered in Leeds.

Between 2002 and 2011 it was the result of a merger between the Employment Service and the Benefits Agency, the latter taking care of the social security and a large chunk of the welfare system in Britain.

The functions of Jobcentre Plus is to provide an employment service and assist people financially, who has lost their jobs are other incapacitated due to disability, illness or drug addiction and are unable to work. To assist with living costs and in some cases retraining for different positions.
