Why has my Direct Debit increased?

Your bill is reviewed twice a year to ensure that your payments are measured accurately in accordance with the amount of energy you are consuming. If you previously has a fixed price tariff that has expired, you might see an increase in price.

Alternatively, you might have had an extra person or two in the house or a particularly cold period that caused you to use more energy.
Energy prices may have increased and subsequently, your bill too.

What is “Economy 7”?

Economy 7 is a cheaper rate of electricity that is usually for 7 hours from 10 PM. This varies depending on your location and the adjustments to British summer times.

You can check your Economy 7 times by logging on to your account online and checking the map – or you can call Npower customer service number to find out more.

What do I do when I’m moving house?

You will need the following information before calling the Npower telephone number:

• Your account information
• Your new address
• Date your tenancy ends and the new one begins
• Meter type at the new property
• Meter readings for both properties

Will I be charged for a smart meter?

No. Npower does not charge for any smart meter that is installed across the UK. Any price for the meters will be worked into the price of your bill as is standard with all services.

About Npower

Npower is owned by German RWE (since 2002) and is one of the “Big 6” energy suppliers in the United Kingdom, supplying both electricity and gas.

In 2013 Npower was accused by some Labour MP’s along with a campaign group called 38 Degrees – of avoiding taxes (reference). This was hotly contested by Npower who stated that the taxed in the year in question were low because of investment in UK energy infrastructure. A Bloomberg report confirmed that RWE Npower was in fact the biggest investor in new energy infrastructure.

Npower supplies residential and commercial properties across the UK with energy from it’s coal, natural gas and renewable energy stations.
